Cut Coin Money Clips and Pendants, Hobbies, Friends and other interest. The Coin Changer by Joe Newberry
After having spent 30 years on active duty in the U.S. Army Medical Service Corp, I retired with the rank of Colonel in 1991. I flew fixed wing aircraft and medical evacuation helicopters during the first part of my career and served in the personnel area during the last years. When I retired I was the Deputy Chief of Staff, Personnel, Health Services Command, US Army. While serving in different parts of the world I became fascinated with the diversity, creativity and beauty of various coins utilized in daily commerce. Also my innate interest in how things work and in finding practical solutions to mechanical problems and in devising ways to utilize common items for different purposes led me to begin coin cutting as a hobby in 1988. Around that same time, I also became interested in silver smithing and other metal arts. All of this led to a small business venture when I retired in 1991. This focus and involvement with metals and art forms and design also provided the stimulus to acquire tools and equipment which have facilitated and enhanced my skills as a coin cutter, as well as furthering additional hobbies. My wife of 48 years has been not only my inspiration but also my valued critic. She has an eye for precision, accuracy and beauty. She manages the business side of our venture. Through the years the quality and beauty of my work has greatly improved, resulting in numerous orders. A large percentage of our sales are repeat customers and their referrals. Occasionally I do custom orders as time permits. My number one goal is customer satisfaction.
Cutting The Coins All coins are hand cut using a jeweler's saw. It can take from 1 to 10 hours to finish a coin, depending on the complexity of the coin. The money clips are high quality clips. The clips are rhodium plated and have an adjustable spring that allows them to hold one bill or many. Some of the coins are made into attractive pendants and some are inserted into belt buckles. All are quality products. I have cut coin jewelry which includes coin money clips (moneyclips), coin pendants and coin belt buckles. I strive for excellence when cutting the coins and I have a 100% approval on my eBay sales.
